Japa Mala Beads is excited to announce their new Fall/Winter lineup of Buddhist and Yoga prayer beads for 2020. Mala beads are very similar to a Catholic rosary-malas are beaded necklaces or bracelets that have a Guru or teacher bead and a tassel at the end. Wikipedia defines a Japa Mala as “a string of prayer beads commonly used by Hindus, Buddhists, Jains and some Sikhs for the spiritual practice known in Sanskrit as japa. It is usually made from 108 beads, though other numbers are also used. Malas are used for keeping count while reciting, chanting, or mentally repeating a mantra.”

Although mala beads are considered a tool for japa or mantra meditation, many yogis are now wearing mala beads as trendy yoga jewelry and as a lifestyle statement. As mala beads continue to trend in the yoga and meditation markets, the demand for unique new mala bead designs has never been stronger.

Japa Mala Beads has just released twelve new bracelet mala designs for retail and wholesale purchase. “I am in love with the beauty, diversity, uniqueness, and richness in our new Autumn lineup of mala beads,” says founder Timothy Burgin. “We are proud to offer gorgeous mala beads with hard to find gemstones such as Apatite, Peridot, Citrine, Cherry Creek Jasper, Aqua Terra Agate, and Sunstone as well as interesting and elegant materials like semi-precious gemstone beads, metal heishi spacers and exotic wood beads.” Most of these new mala bead designs use gemstone beads with a frosted or matte finish.

The gemstone beads in the new Apatite mala and Purple Sandalwood mala are a favorite of Paula Hanke, Director of mala operations. “My wrist size is small, so the Apatite and Amazonite design fits perfectly, and the colors pop with beauty and distinction,” says Hanke. “The cooling, calming Purple Sandalwood and Rose Quartz design, relaxes my mood, and the contrasting colors compliment my skin tone.”

All of Japa Mala Beads’ bracelet malas are made with a traditional tassel and contain 27 counting beads and one Guru (teacher) or Meru (mountain) bead. All of our wrist malas are strung with heavy-duty elastic to allow them to be worn comfortably and to be extremely durable.

Many of these new malas are created with gemstone beads that Japa Mala Beads has not used in the past. All of these newly released mala beads are currently in stock. Due to the availability of certain semi-precious gemstones, several of the new designs are limited additions that may sell out quickly.
