The year was 2002 and many people were losing their jobs after the dot-com bubble burst, except for the main character in Life as it Happens 2000 – 2005, a biography by Howard Mack. He continues to get work, even in the hardest times, until his life is also upside down after a contract cancellation. Everything starts going downhill fast, probably too fast, and finally leads to the unimaginable. My Life, The Streets, Homeless is one of the stories contained in the book Life as it Happens 2000- 2005 by Howard Mack. In the second story, the key character leaves Toronto for Paris after completing a lucrative contract deal. The trip, however, quickly goes south after arriving in Paris and what was meant to be a slow getaway weekend gradually turns into a nightmare.

The two stories contained in Life as it Happens 2000- 2005 by Howard Mack are inspirational and eye-opening. I especially found the first story, My Life, The Streets, Homeless, very intriguing. The drastic change in the main character’s circumstances throughout the sequence of events was very engaging. The story also evoked sympathy in me and made me realize the devastating impact of unemployment. The second story was fast-paced, thrilling and suspenseful. I kept wondering how the key character would be able to travel back to his home country. More importantly, it contains a valuable lesson on traveling and the importance of intricate planning, especially when going to unfamiliar places. In both stories, the author describes events that are gripping and which are full of suspense. Life as it Happens 2000- 2005 by Howard Mack is, therefore, a book worth reading.
