Gartner has revealed the results of its 20th annual Global Supply Chain Top 25, highlighting the world’s leading supply chain organizations and the trends driving their performance. Schneider Electric maintained its top position, with Cisco Systems and Colgate-Palmolive rounding out the top three. NVIDIA also made a strong debut at seventh place.

“The supply chain organizations in this year’s Top 25 were notable for better-protecting growth rates in a challenging operating environment, while at the same time delivering more sustainable operations,” said Simon Bailey, VP Analyst at Gartner. “The best supply chains now have ESG criteria firmly embedded in their operations, while delivering higher than average growth rates, better returns on physical assets (ROPA) and stronger margins.”

Other companies that performed well in the rankings include Microsoft (4), Johnson & Johnson (5) and Diageo (6).

“Schneider Electric excelled across all components of our methodology, securing the highest number of Gartner expert votes,” Bailey added. “The company benefits from a three-year transformation initiative that has enhanced customer and supplier relationships and improved operational resilience.”

A complete look at the Top 25, including short profiles of each company and a broader look at the key trends uncovered this year, will appear in the September issue of Supply Chain Management Review magazine. To subscribe, click here.

Gartner also recognizes long-term supply chain excellence through its “Masters” category, introduced in 2015. Companies in this category must have consistently achieved top-five composite scores for at least seven of the past ten years. Amazon, Apple, P&G, and Unilever maintained their Masters status this year.

The Gartner Supply Chain Top 25 ranking includes business performance data and community opinion, combining these into a composite score to evaluate companies. Gartner’s list comprises companies from the Fortune Global 500 and the Forbes Global 2000, with a revenue threshold of $15 billion.
